Redeem, the leading mobile industry services company, is delighted to announce it has won the award for Best Recycling Service for its mobile-phone trade-in and recycling programme with Telefónica, at the 2017 Mobile News Awards on 16 March 2017.
O2 Recycle is the largest mobile network operator trade-in scheme in Europe, which Redeem has supported since 2009, returning in that time over £150m to customers. Over two million devices have so far been processed through the scheme, which helps customers upgrade to the latest device faster, for less and in the most sustainable way.
O2 Recycle is also a major component of Telefónica’s sustainability programme, generating over £5m for its charity, Think Big. Think Big is a people and planet initiative, which with the help of this funding has delivered over 5,000 social action projects, 24,000 work opportunities and generated over 1m skills opportunities to disadvantaged young people.
Redeem manages the programme behind the scenes, including devising and executing online and offline campaigns supporting O2. The experienced digital marketing team within Redeem works closely with key stakeholders across marketing, supply chain, sales and operations to develop O2 Recycle promotions, campaigns and training and engagement programmes to drive adoption rates.
Redeem also supports O2’s advisors on the ground, helping them monitor customer service and individual store performance to ensure trade-in is always communicated and delivered in the right way.
Paul Adams, CEO of Redeem, said: “Our long-running European trade-in scheme for Telefónica allows consumers to hand in their old phone at any O2 store, or through their online service, in exchange for payment or money off a new phone. We’re thrilled to be recognised with this industry-leading award, and look forward to continuing our long running partnership for many years to come..”
