AWS DevOps Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an AWS DevOPs Engineer to join our team.

Location: Macclesfield, Cheshire or Bathgate, Scotland

Role Objective/Purpose    

To work as part of the Infrastructure and Operations team taking direct responsibility for the cloud hosted infrastructure and solutions.

You will also be responsible for designing, commissioning, monitoring and maintaining the Redeem Group’s Cloud infrastructure.

You will install and configure cloud environments, diagnose hardware/ software faults and solve technical and application problems, either over the phone or in person.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and build of AWS based solutions
  • Day to day management of production servers (BAU & Break-Fix)
  • Working directly with our internal applications development team as well as customers technical teams as required.
  • Providing excellent levels of customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Participation in a 24/7 on call rota.
  • Keeping up to date with AWS best practice and developments.
  • Attendance at client meetings when require to our cloud architecture, process policies and procedures.
  • Input into the design, analysis and implementation work following industry best practice and for cloud hosted systems
  • Communicate clearly with lead developer and stakeholders, ensuring everyone knows what the status of a task is and when they should expect it to be complete
  • Pre-empt and highlight potential pitfalls and blockers and communicate these appropriately to IT management with solution resolution options.
  • Responsible for the adherence to ISO 27001 processes practices and procedures.

Personal Skills and Key Competencies:

  • Technical (Include but not limited to)
  • AWS Certified with Associate as a minimum but ideally Professional.
  • Previous experience in using Amazon Web Services.

-          Route53

-          ELB

-          RDS

  • Proficient in administering Linux/Windows servers within a Cloud environment.
  • Windows Server 2012/2016 Core
  • Command line configuration/troubleshooting knowledge
  • Good scripting skills

- Bash

- PowerShell

  • You have a solid understanding of network and systems concepts, protocols and troubleshooting across all layers.
  • Highly Available Infrastructure.
  • Experience in system architecture design, particularly AWS related.

- Automation.

- Jenkins

- Cloud Formation

  • AWS Certified with Associate as a minimum but ideally Professional.
  • Knowledge of MSSQL infrastructure configuration.
  • Knowledge of the MS Azure platform is required although the focus is AWS.
